• eBird CSV data: Your birding observations that you voluntarily import into Fledge. This data is processed locally on your device and stored securely.
• Account information: Email address and eBird username used for authentication and personalization.
• Usage analytics: Anonymized, aggregated usage patterns to improve the app experience. No personally identifiable information is included.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To generate personalized birding insights, stats, and visualizations.
• To cross-reference your observations with public data sources (GBIF, BirdCast, eBird Frequency, AviList, Open-Meteo, IUCN Red List) for enriched context.
• To improve the app and fix bugs through anonymized analytics.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your birding data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your eBird CSV data remains yours — you can export or delete it at any time.

Fledge integrates publicly available data from the following sources to enrich your experience:

• GBIF — Global Biodiversity Information Facility (CC0)
• BirdCast — Migration forecasts from Cornell Lab
• eBird — Species frequency data
• AviList — Taxonomic data (CC BY 4.0)
• Open-Meteo — Weather data
• IUCN Red List — Conservation status data

These sources are queried in real-time and are not stored permanently with your personal data.

6. Your Rights

• Access: You can view all data Fledge stores about you at any time within the app.
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
• Portability: Your data can be exported in standard formats.
• Correction: You can update your account information at any time.

7. Cookies & Tracking

The Fledge website uses only essential cookies required for site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell data to advertisers.

8. Children's Privacy

Fledge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of Fledge after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
