Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Fledge (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Fledge is a personal birding analytics app that imports your eBird data and combines it with publicly available data sources to provide insights, statistics, and visualizations about your birding activity.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 13 years of age to use Fledge.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

  • Fledge offers a free tier and a premium subscription ($49.99/year or $6.99/month).
  • Premium subscriptions include a 7-day free trial with no payment method required upfront.
  • Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's subscription terms.
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.

5. Your Data

  • You retain ownership of all birding data you import into Fledge.
  • By using the App, you grant Fledge a limited license to process your data for the purpose of providing the service.
  • You can delete your data and account at any time.

6. Third-Party Data

Fledge integrates data from third-party sources including GBIF, BirdCast, eBird, AviList, Open-Meteo, and IUCN Red List. This data is provided under their respective licenses and terms. We do not guarantee the accuracy or availability of third-party data.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data.
  • Resell or redistribute the App or its data.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Fledge is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that insights will be perfectly accurate. Birding decisions (including travel and timing) should not rely solely on Fledge data.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fledge shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Fledge after changes constitutes acceptance.
